The Walair Drum airseparator

Walair started to build this Drum airseparator to have less cleaning effort and better separation result as compared to The walair Airseparator.

Applications

Walair started to build this Drum Airseparator to have less cleaning effort and a better separation result as compared to the Walair Airseparator.

This is the reason that we have changed the separation plate in the airseparator for a self cleaning rotating drum.

The Drum Airseparator is suitable to split or separate a waste stream in a heavy and a light fraction stream. The Drum Airseparator is mounted at a conveyor. The light fraction is picked-up and transported to a material separator with a rotary valve. In the material separator the air and the waste are separated. The waste is dropped down pressureless by the rotary valve.

Designs/Specifications

Walair started to build this separator to have less cleaning effort on the Walair Airseparator. This is the reason that we have changed the separation plate in the airseparator for a self cleaning rotating drum with a diameter of 650 mm.

During operation the rotating drum gave another advantage, the separating result was better than at the Walair Airseparator.

The Walair drum airseparator is made for a max fraction size of 500 mm., when this fraction contain bigger sizes from paper and plastic this is no problem.

The drum airseparator is made for conveyor width from 600 mm till 1400 mm. Max capacity from 2 tons till 12 tons an hour.

De Walair Drum Airseparator

Walair started to build this separator to have less cleaning effort on the Walair Airseparator. This is the reason that we have changed the separation plate in the airseparator for a self cleaning rotating drum with a diameter of 650 mm.

Working of the Walair Drum Airseparator with extraction system.

The input waste has to be dropped on the speedup conveyor (nr3)  of the Drum Airseparator. The material must equally be distributed and spread on the speedup conveyor of the separator unit. To guarantee an optimal result of the separation, it is advised that the thickness of the material on the conveyor is no more than 30 mm.

It is advised to handle parts no longer than 300 mm. in the drum separation unit. Longer is not a problem, but the long parts can run over the drum into the light fraction.

The speedup conveyor is adjustable in a horizontal and vertical position and in an angle. Below the conveyor a blow mouth is installed. Also, the blow mouth (nr 4) is adjustable in a horizontal and vertical position and in an angle. To adjust the air flow, the blow mouth is made with 2 air regulation valves.

Behind the speedup conveyor, a separating room is mounted. In the separating room, a rotating drum of 600 mm is fitted. The drum can turn left or right. The inlet opening and the opening between the separator are height adjustable.

In the separation room, using the blowing capacity of the blow mouth and the suction capacity above the separating drum, the heavy and the lighter fraction will be separated.

Along the front of the drum, the heavy fraction is, by means of a chute, discharged to a discharge conveyor (nr 4) or will directly fall down in a container or bunker. The lighter fraction is blown over the separation drum and extracted and discharged to a extraction hood.

The extraction hood is connected to a transport duct and connected to a rotating airseparator (nr 8). In the rotating airseparator the extracted material is taken out and drops pressureless on a conveyor (nr 8) or to a storage bunker.

The airseparator is connected with a suction duct to a fan separator (nr2) . The fan will provide the suction for 100% of the air drum separator. In the fan, the air is separated in an air dust flow of approx. 20% and a blow air flow of approx. 80%. The air dust flow (20%), containing the dust, is discharged by a duct to the main duct of the existing dust filter.

The blow air flow is connecting by two ducts to the blowing mouth and is used to blow the fraction against and over the separation drum. The blow stream is very important for a correct separation of the fraction.

The fan separator is equipped with 1 air regulation valve and 1 pressure regulation valve. These valves determine the amount of air to the blow mouth, and the amount of air which must be discharged to the dust filter. The special fan separator allows the installation of a relative small dust filter, due to the circulation of most of the air.

Using these possibilities and the possibilities to adjust the speed-up conveyor of the drum separator horizontal and vertical and in an angle, it is possible to adjust the unit to the necessary input flows and fraction sizes.
